I want to use this week's commentary to revisit a topic I touched on a couple weeks ago. I alluded to some big opportunities on the horizon for Silsbee High School. At Tuesday's board meeting a few things finally became official. Lamar Institute of Technology has officially designated Silsbee High School as their regional hub. By doing so they have committed to providing professional development for staff associated with dual credit classes at no cost to the campus. They will also provide the campus an in-house college advisor/counselor 100% funded by L.I.T. These are major opportunities for our staff and students. The campus has also been diligently working with L.I.T. regarding grant opportunities. These grants have the potential to provide up to a three-quarters of a million dollars for equipment. If we are able to secure these grants we will be providing the students opportunities and training to use equipment that is on par with the local industry needs. After the meeting several of the board members indicated new facilities may be in the future for the campus. As you can see lots of great things are becoming reality for our students. The trajectory is going up and does not appear to be slowing.

Survival Techniques 101
With a workday on the horizon I am sure many teachers are giddy with anticipation. I just know they are anxious for a staff meeting or two. In this week's Survival Techniques I would like to share a method of communication that does not interrupt the meeting. I introduce to you all the "Peer Communicator".
