Week of January 23


With the end of another six weeks and report cards going out make sure parent notifications have occurred if students have failed.  Remember to document the notifications.  These notices not only keep the parents abreast of what is occurring but also protect you when issues arise.

REMINDER...the SAT is this Saturday 1/21.  Absolutely no one is allowed in the building from 7 am-3:30 pm.

The Trophy Case

We have had a number of students representing Silsbee High School well over the past week.


Miss Morrison's welding group participated in the Woodville competition @ ABC welding in Nederland.  15 schools and 104 students participated.


The cheerleaders competed in the UIL State Spirit Competition and ranked 24th out of 71 teams overall.  They also ranked 11th in the individual Crowd Leading category.

The Criminal Justice Society competed in the Public Service Association Regional Competition this weekend in Houston.  The students competed in various events.  They placed 1st in Building Search and Firefighter Bunker Gear and 2nd in Foot Pursuit.  These students will compete this April at the state competition in El Paso.  Pictured are Richard Van Horn, Noah Quillen, Mikayla Reynolds-Chandler, Miranda Pollock, Natalie Padron, Hayden Daugherty, and Corbin Nolen.

Boys and Girls basketball being successful in this week's competions. 

Once again Paula Boothman and Brennan Rivas are highlighted this week. They are performing in Nederland this week with the TMEA All-Region Band.  This was a separate audition competing against 5A and 6A schools.

In Art 20 students placed either red or blue ribbons at the district meet for the Houston Livestock show.  Dalton Garsee received gold and Megan Bryan received BESt of Show and now their pieces will be displayed in Houston at the rodeo in the Hayloft Gallery.
